New Custom Figures – Dean Winchester and Castiel from Supernatural

Hey everyone! For this week’s new custom action figure, I have two for you: Dean Winchester, and Castiel the Fallen Angel from the television show Supernatural. Castiel is a custom I meant to post a while back, but completely forgot about it! So I decided to go ahead and post him with Dean. Both were made made to be completely accurate to the show. With Dean Winchester, the head actually came from a shrunken down mold of a custom sculpted 1/6 scale Dean head. I also made both of the Colt pistols from the show for Dean. Click each picture below to go to the full photo set for each custom. Also, don’t forget to check out the short Youtube vidoes I made for Dean Winchester and Castiel. It’s something I plan to do more of, showcasing my work on Youtube as well. Thanks for taking a look!

NECA Toys Behind the Scenes – Making a Weapon Accessory

Last Week I was talking with Randy Falk from NECA about their process for fabricating weapons and accessories for their action figures. As a customizer, I’m always curious about learning new techniques and improving my craft. He told me that he’d see about doing a step-by-step behind the scenes of what it takes for them to make a weapon accessory, and sure enough that has happened. In what will be the first of many, this is the beginning of NECA Toys making a weapon accessory.

News – Figure of the Day Unexpectedly Closes Down

Figure of the Day.comIt appears as if the popular toy store website, Figure of the Day, is closing down. No reason is given as to why the store is closing, but they are currently selling off their domain name at $2,500.00 (or Best Offer) in place of any action figure today.

The store started out very strong and has steadily grown in popularity all throughout this year. This is in small part due to the fact that they most often have figures at cheaper prices than other stores, and offer free shipping. This may be the double-edged sword that spelled the store’s doom. Offering up product for cheap prices is great for consumers, but not so much for businesses. It’s likely that we’ll get an official statement explaining why the store is closing in the coming days, and if so then I will keep you all updated.

For now, continue after the jump to read what little information has been provided on the site’s closing.

Welcome to Mint Condition Customs

Hello there, and welcome to Mint Condition Customs.

This website is used by me, John Harmon, to showcase my custom action figures. I’ve been customizing professionally since 2007 and have had a previous website showcasing my customs for several years already. However, that website is extremely outdated, and I wanted a new site to not only display my work, but to also make it more interactive.

Here you can view my entire past catalog of custom figures by clicking the link “custom figure archive“, and view several of my latest customs towards the top of the page right under the header. If you see any of my customs that you particularly like, you can share them on a number of social networking sites. There is a series of buttons at the bottom of each custom entry for you to do this, so please feel free to spread the word and share my work.

I customize figures full time and am taking commissions, so if you’re interested then don’t hesitate to contact me! In addition to commissions, I also sell some of my work on eBay, so feel free to check often.

I also offer up a service of action figure repair, for those with a figure that is too rare or expensive to fully replace.

And of course check this space frequently for action figure and toy reviews, news, as well as all sorts of pop culture related goodness.

So once again, Welcome to Mint Condition Customs and enjoy your stay.
