Mondo TMNT The First Turtle Figure Now Up For Pre-Order

Mondo is definitely a smaller company. They specialize in posters, apparel, and even sometimes toys. Their latest foray into the toy world is actually something I’ve wanted for a very long time. Dubbed “The First Turtle“, it’s a vinyl figure based on Kevin Eastman’s original sketch of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, when he was just trying to draw something to make partner Peter Laird laugh. Pre-orders are up right now on their site. You can actually get this figure in many different forms. There’s the black and white sketch version, a full color version with classic Mirage red bandana, and one with an orange Michelangelo bandana (The First Turtle was drawn with nunchaku after all), or the Deluxe black and white version, which includes three alternate heads. These are scheduled to ship in the fourth quarter of 2015. Keep reading for tons of image and info.

The First Turtle:
In 1983, Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird were doodling on napkins, playing around with an idea that initially began as a joke. Little did they know what started as a sketch, would turn into the phenomena known as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

We’re proud to honor the history of the Turtles with a figure based on the very first illustration of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, as drawn by Kevin Eastman. Featuring 5 points of articulation, and illustration-accurate details, The First Turtle is perfect for TMNT and comic history fans alike!

This version features a color paint scheme with a red mask.

The First Turtle Figure (Color Version with Orange Mask) – $65
This version features a color paint scheme with an orange mask.

The First Turtle Figure (Deluxe B&W Version) – $100
This deluxe version features an all Black & White paint scheme, imitating the original pen and napkin illustration, and includes 3 interchangeable heads with different mask colors – white, red, and orange. This version also includes a 5″ x 7″ letterpress print of the original Kevin Eastman art.
